The scenic tidal village of Bear River has plenty of sights to see. Some of its rich history can be found on the kiosk along the river in the village along with a map for the artisan trail. A wide variety of artist and artisan studios are within a 2-5 minute drive of the village. From fine art, to wooden turned bowls and art forms, Windsor chairs, fabric art, sculpture, pottery, jewellery, and more.
There are eateries, shopping, a cafe featuring organic fair trade coffee roasted right in the village, a museum, 3 art galleries, a unique waterfront and a soon to be community greenhouse.
One of the most inviting wineries I have ever been to is just 2 minutes from the village. Bear River Vineyards and Winery. Accommodations are available both in and just outside the village.
Murals and banners from the local artists line the street to make it a very lively and colourful place to visit. For a list of artists, photos and hours of the studios on the trail, check out:
Bear River is located between Annapolis Royal and Digby. Take exit 24 off the 101 highway. Follow the signage to the village and studios along the beautiful River Road
